Vietnam’s blue transformation in response to climate change (funded by WorldFish, 2021)

Vietnam is a leading global fish producer, ranking fourth in aquatic food production and third in fish exports. Aquatic food is vital for Vietnam's protein, livelihoods, economy, and well-being. Sustainable development of this sector is crucial for health, biodiversity, and climate. However, the fish industry contributes to greenhouse gas emissions and mangrove deforestation. Despite Vietnam's commitment to net-zero emissions by 2025, it remains unclear how the fish sector will adapt to climate risks and aid climate change mitigation. This project develops modelling frameworks to support sustainable decision-making and balance economic, social, and environmental objectives.
