Dr Khoi Dang

Holding a Ph.D. in Policy Economics and two Master's degrees in economics from the Australian National University (ANU), Dr Khoi Dang has a robust academic foundation in economics and policy analysis enhancing his ability to apply various analytical methods, including statistical and econometric techniques, policy and economic modelling, and generating reports with significant policy impact.

Dr Khoi Dang’s 20-year career has spanned across agriculture, water, energy, medicine, and health sectors in Australia, Vietnam, and ASEAN countries. In Vietnam, he served as a senior policy researcher and the Director of the Centre for Agriculture Policy (CAP) in the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agricultural and Rural Development (IPSARD), conducting extensive research and policy analyses for the Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development (MARD).

His prior role as an economist at the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) involved conducting economic analyses and contributing to influential reports, including Health Expenditure Australia, and Australian Welfare reports. Additionally, he worked as a Regulatory Economist at the Independent Competition and Regulatory Commission (ICRC) in the ACT Government, overseeing the Water Price Model and liaising with key stakeholders. He served as an economic policy analyst at the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, where he was responsible for medicine supply and demand forecasting models. Presently, Dr Khoi Dang is an economist at the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Science (ABARES) working on a wide range of Australian agricultural research and policy topics. As a part-time senior researcher at the ANU, he has completed several research reports focusing on Vietnam’s agricultural economics and policies.
